The very heart of our program. These wonderful mares are treated throughout their life with exceptional care and their wellbeing is of the greatest importance to us. Each year a great deal of thought is put into selecting stallions for them that compliment and improve. They are the queens of Windhorse Farm! Please click on their names to link to their own page.
Grace (Grusus X SPS Ramona-Romanow)
By the Elite Hanoverian stallion Grusus, a son of the excellent sire Grundstein I. Grace's dam was a States Premium mare by Romanow.
Grace has earned Premium status in the Oldenburg NA registry and is approved GOV and Westphalia.
Grace will be bred to Licotus in 2010
EM Destiny FDF (Diamont x Whitney- Wertherson)
Destiny is an Elite Hanoverian mare by one of the leading sire of dressage horses in the United States. While competing Destiny regularly scored over 70% on her second level tests. Her dam is by Wertherson, an Elite son of the Celle State Stud stallion Werther.
Destiny will continue her show career in 2010
Canzara (Carbid x SPS Wilhemine- Wenzel I)

Canzara is a special mare imported from Germany as a four year old. Her breeder Heinrich Heemke is highly regarded in Germany. She is by Carbid, the son of Calypso II who was out of a mare that was the full sister to Grundstein I and II. Her grand-dam in her mare line was the illustrious Genua, the dam of the Celle State Stud stallion Wanderer who in turn sired the brilliant Wanderbursch I and II.
Canzara is available as an ET donor mare. She will be bred via ET to Wolkenstein II in 2010
Alouette (Almaden x Alexa- Abajoxx)
Alouette is our Hanoverian -line mare by the 100 day test winner Almaden, who was sired by the influential Atatuerk. Almaden's dam is from the Duerte/Elfi mare line. Alouette's dam Alexa was imported from Germany and became one of the foundation mares for Maple Run Hanoverians and the dam of their Elite mare Wintessa.

Royale Pal ( Loyal Palxx x Racinia Royal- Renoir I)
This beautiful mare is by the imported eventer Loyal Pal who stood in Virginia. His lines include the sporthorse line of Grey Sovereign and the excellent racehorse Sailor. Her dam is the full sister to the approved stallion Royal Touch, whose dam Georgina brings in the solid Westphalian sire line of Fruhling and the States Premium tail line Alge. The dam-sire Renoir I barely needs introduction, he competed at the International level and was the sire of multiple champions.

Drone's Legacy AA
Lacy is our elegant Anglo-Arab mare who is the perfect combination of grace and athleticism. She brings in the solid bone of her Thoroughbred sire and the lofty suspension of her arab dam. Her sire was by the renowned broodmare sire Drone who stool at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky. His dam sire was Grey Dawn II, found in many successful sporthorse pedigrees. Her sires tail line has Owen Tudor, the same sire line found in Lauries Crusador, the excellent Thoroughbred standing in Germany at the Celle State stud and sire of Londonderry, amoung many others. Finally her sire brings in Son-in-Law, a line that appears again and again in top event horses. Lacy's dam is line bred Asil and Crabbet, lines with some Polish influence. These old early American lines have dominated endurance riding, proving soundness and sanity.
